Jay was a fixture in the Cleveland Kindred scene — known, but not really a player. He drifted into a club one day, when he developed a fixation with the DJ working the table. He followed the DJ, more entranced than predatory and perhaps it was this that made him miss the other, truer, predator that swept the DJ away.

Jay waited, and he watched, and most importantly: he listened until he found the DJ’s music again. And somehow, he and the DJ- Gray- became friends. He almost left when a third vampire joined them- DJGray’s friend: a big, scary, aggressive woman named MaxXx. But DJGray told Jay it was OK, and it was. MaxXx not only never hurt or threatened him, but she defended him. And now, for the first time, Jay can feel some of the jagged visions fade away and others start to connect but not hurt, and while he still needs the drugs, and he still fears the visions, he knows that it’s being with the other two that is somehow making things better. And he’ll do anything to keep things that way. Anything.
